When uderzo was asked if Asterix and the Falling Sky was his last Asterix book he said no. (Has anyone got a link to a website about this?) Has there been any news or is there any coming about it? I get the Asterix Missive but it hasn't said anyhting about it!

Hello Magnet,

as the publication of the last 3 Asterix albums show us, the period between one Asterix album and the next one is about 4 to 5 years: Obelix all at sea was published in 1996, Asterix and the Actress was published in 2001 and - as we all know - Asterix and the falling sky came out in 2005.

The next fact is, that the information about Uderzo working on a new Asterix adventure was never be published more than a year before the album was ready for sale. This in mind, it seems to be very unlikely, that we get to hear anything about this before autumn 2008!

So, we all have to be very patient before we hear the first news about Asterix No. 34 (and I am sure, you mean 34, not 44!) - if there will be such a further adventure at all, as Uderzo is already 78 years old.

But perhaps you may be able to look forward to the publication of the book to the cartoon "Asterix and the Vikings", which is announced for April 2006. I'm almost sure, that it'll be available in english as well.

Look here for the cover:

It really looks promising, doesn't it?

Regards
Erik

Yeah, I can't wait for the movie. I just hope Uderzo does not die in the middle of making Asterix 34 (yes I did mean 34) like Herge did in the middle of making the last Tintin book.

What happened to the book? Did fans get to see his work-in-progress?

If you mean Herge, he died while making 'Tintin and Alph-art' His work in progress has now been released, but several people have tried to complete the work, much to the dismay of Moulinsart, who govern the Tintin world. Here is one of the best of these completions : http://tintin.tk/alph.html

As BBC says:

On 3 March, 1983, Georges Remi died in the Saint-Luc clinic in Brussels. Hergé forbade the production of any further Tintin books. At the time of his death, he was working on Tintin and the Alpha-Art, which was published in an unfinished form in 1986. There is much discussion among 'Tintinologists' about what Hergé intended, and the identity of the mysterious 'Akass'.

Hi
You said 'alpha art'. This was later translated as 'alph art'. and 'Akass' was shown to be Tintin's arch enemy-Rastapopolous. You've shown some advanced Tintin knowledge there - are you a Tintinologist?
