"Asterix et la Transitalique" will be the title of the now book due in October.
It will be initially published in 20+ languages, as expected and stated here http://www.europe1.fr/culture/bande-des ... le-3221285
The titles of the first few translations can be taken from the asterix37.com:
[fr] Astérix et la Transitalique
[nl] Asterix en de race door de Laars
[en] Asterix and the Chariot Race [before: Race through Italy]
[de] Asterix in Italien
[es] Asterix en Italia
[pt] Astérix e a Transitálica
[en] Asterix e la corsa d'Italia
For me the least favourable title is the German one (along with the Spanish then, I guess). Boring. Why not "Asterix bei den Italikern" (~ Asterix and the Italics) or so.
To the Dutch friends: What is "de Laars"?

Thank you! Asterix and the banquet (Tour de Gaule) but not in France but in Italy?Christian hat geschrieben:"Asterix et la Transitalique" will be the title of the now book due in October.
"Laars" means "boot", a common expression for Italy because of the form of the country.Christian hat geschrieben:To the Dutch friends: What is "de Laars"?

Yes, they are reusing old patterns it seems, but maybe this is not so wrong. However, the Germany title really bothers me. Another better(?) one could have been "Corso durch Italien" or so. Or as in Dutch "Asterix auf dem Stiefel". Hope the translation of the actual adventure will be more exciting.Jochgem hat geschrieben:Thank you! The cover of the new book has been reveiled today. The English title will indeed be "Asterix and the Chariot Race". You can browse the languages translated at the official site of French publisher Albert-René.
PS. Or even better look at the special site for book 37. It has a beautiful chapter on the new album, with sections as "A chariot race on Roman roads" and "The masked Auriga". Lovely pencil sketches and discussions on the design of the story.
